Info: The panel discussion “Law Enforcement: Building Bridges to Protect our Community” will include Modesto police Chief Galen Carroll, Ceres police Chief Brent Smith, Turlock police Chief Rob Jackson and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Where: Turlock branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 550 Minaret Ave.

Info: Crafters will use VCR cases and other upcycled materials to make unique pencil cases. Children under 4 must have direct parental supervision.

100 YEARS AGO: The Modesto Theater announced it would be showing two films. The first was a Frank Keenan feature, “The Phantom,” on five reels. The second was the Keystone comedy “Poor Papa,” on two reels. The cost was 15 cents for adults and 5 cents for youths.
