A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 99 south of Modesto early Tuesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred in the northbound lanes near Crows Landing Road.
The CHP called for an official from the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office. About 30 minutes after the accident, the body could be seen in the middle lane covered by a yellow tarp.
There were no immediate details about the wreck, which was first reported at 6:47 p.m. Attempts to reach the CHP later Tuesday evening were unsuccessful.
Two lanes of Highway 99 were blocked, with traffic guided into one lane. Southbound lanes were unaffected.
