For the second time in less than a month, a local law enforcement officer helped in the birth of a baby.
Modesto Police Officer Brian Ferguson helped deliver a baby Thursday.
Ferguson was on a traffic stop on East Morris Avenue when he was approached by a man who said his wife was in labor in a nearby car.
Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves said Ferguson helped guide the father deliver his son.

“He told (the father) to swipe the child’s mouth to get everything out of there and was coaching the mom to breathe,” Graves said. “He said the dad did a phenomenal job.”
An ambulance arrived shortly after the birth and took the mother and baby boy to a local hospital.
On Dec. 17, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputy Kyle Briggs helped deliver a baby in the Patterson Police Services station, where Briggs works.
