Two presentations about Measure F, the initiative to change the Modesto City Schools board from at-large members to elections by area, will be given Oct. 8.
At 11:45 a.m., the Latino Community Roundtable will have a presentation by Roman Munoz, the Modesto City Schools attorney, at the Red Event Center Bar & Grill, 921 Eighth St., Modesto. An optional lunch is $12. Other speakers will discuss the safer neighborhood initiative.
At 6 p.m., Modesto City Schools will hold a meeting at the school board chambers, 425 Locust St., Modesto.
The measure removes the requirement in the Modesto City Charter that the Board of Education be elected on an at-large basis. The change would give voters the option of electing trustees by area, meant to improve minority representation and comply with the California Voting Rights Act.
