Livingston man killed in crash, fire on Highway 99

LIVINGSTON - A Livingston man was killed in a solo car crash early this morning after his car left Highway 99, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The victim has been identified as Carlos Aguilar, 36.

The incident was reported at 3:45 a.m. near Bradbury Road. The car, a 1993 Acura Integra drifted off the roadway and traveled on the dirt shoulder, west of the southbound lanes, according to Shane Ferriera, CHP spokesman.

The front of the car hit a wooden sign post, and the vehicle continued in a southeasterly direction. The car hit a barbed wire fence and came to a rest on a dirt berm. The vehicle then caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames, Ferriera said.

Aguilar was pronounced dead at the scene, and no one else was in the car.

The cause of the crash is unknown and remains under investigation, Ferriera said.
