A 2-year-old boy was taken by helicopter to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento on Sunday after sustaining burns to his body at Woodward Reservoir.
The boy was alert and conscious when firefighters arrived and suffered what appeared to be second-degree burns to his back, said Battalion Chief Eric DeHart with the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District. He said the injuries did not appear to be life threatening and his mother accompanied him to the medical center.
DeHart said the boy fell into a fire pit. He said firefighters were dispatched just before noon. No other information about the incident was available Monday.
