A man is under arrest and recovering from self-inflicted burns after a domestic dispute turned into a standoff in Modesto on Monday, authorities said.
Police announced the end to the approximately 10-hour standoff at about 3 a.m. Tuesday.
The man, whose name was not released, will be booked on various assault charges, according to the Modesto Police Department.
The man was being treated at a local hospital Tuesday morning, police said. He suffered second-degree burns on an open stove flame, according to Modesto police spokeswoman Heather Graves.
Police and firefighters were called to the 1400 block of Pearl Street early Monday afternoon on a report of a domestic dispute.
The man inside the house was threatening to kill himself, Graves said.
A SWAT team remained at the scene for about 10 hours.
