A man is in critical condition after being struck by a car while attempting to cross Yosemite Boulevard in Modesto Tuesday night.
The man was struck by a westbound Ford Taurus near Santa Barbara Avenue at about 6:30 p.m., said Modesto Police Spokeswoman Heather Graves.
The woman driving the Ford stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to a Modesto hospital where he remains in critical condition but is expected to survive.

Officers are still trying to identify the man, who is likely transient.
Graves said the speed of the car and whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk are under investigation. She said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
Traffic on Yosemite was reduced to one eastbound lane between La Loma and Santa Ana avenues while officers investigated the crash.
