Beyer High play
Steven Linhares, a senior at Beyer High School, is directing the comedy "Barefoot in the Park" by Neil Simon.
A first-time director, Steven has undertaken all aspects of the production as a senior project, including running auditions and rehearsals as well as designing the set, lights, props and costumes. The project stemmed from his participation in the Ashland Summer Seminar for juniors last year.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. today and Friday. Tickets are $5 for students and $6 for general admission. They are available at the door.

High school seniors will compete in the finals of Bank of America's 60th annual Achievement Awards program, a rigorous half-day oral and written competition to recognize outstanding high school students. The students will compete in four general study areas: applied arts, fine arts, liberal arts or science and mathematics.
The Fresno event is one of 10 competitions held across California. In all, 320 students statewide will vie for $280,000 in prize money.

Applications for the Teens in Action Leadership Turlock program are available. The program will bring teens together for monthly educational and leadership sessions.
