'Honk' if you love musicals
YES (Youth Entertainment Stage) Kids will present "Honk! Jr." at 7 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Downey High School auditorium, 1000 Coffee Road, Modesto.
Sponsored by the Stanislaus County Office of Education and Education Foundation of Stanislaus County, "Honk! Jr." is the young performers' version of the contemporary Broadway classic that follows the colorful characters of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling." Follow Ugly, the most different hatchling the duck yard has ever seen, as he ventures away from home in search of friends and his true identity.
Seventy students in grades four through eight from schools throughout the county are participating in this year's production. YES Kids is geared toward younger children and provides them with an opportunity to participate in the performing arts. YES Company alumni serve as mentors/trainers and fellow performers.
