Youth orchestra

The Modesto Symphony Youth Orchestra (MSYO) will perform its first concert of the 2007-08 season at 3:30 p.m.

Nov. 4, in the Foster Theater at the Gallo Center for the Arts in downtown Modesto.

The MSYO is composed of two skill-based orchestras, the Concert Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra, which will perform separately. They also will perform one piece, Brahms' "Hungarian Dance

No. 5," together. The MSYO is in its 31st season and includes nearly 120 musicians from more than 40 schools. These students come from Stanislaus and surrounding counties and their ages range from 9 to 17.
