Newman FFA has been approved to use two acres of Orestimba High School's land to build its new school farm. The farm will facilitate market animals, such as pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits and poultry. The students will also grow perennial and annual crops.
The farm should increase the number of students who show animals at the summer fairs, as well as enrich classroom learning. The Orestimba High School agriculture department hopes to have the fencing go up in the next couple months and the school farm up and running within the next few years.
