Fresno loves its margaritas.
But does it love them enough to pay $100 for one?
We’re about to find out. Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is selling a margarita for $100 as part of celebrating Cinco de Mayo. The restaurant near Fashion Fair is known for its steaks and premium wines, but is selling the margarita throughout the month of May.
The cocktail is made with an “ultra premium single estate and single vintage” tequila from Tequila Ocho.
It’s served in a Baccarat crystal glass that you get to keep. The glass comes in a fancy red box.
So why does it cost so much? It’s the glass and what goes into it.
The glass typically sells for around $140 at Barney’s.
The margarita is made with Tequila Ocho extra anejo La Latilla, which costs about $189 a bottle online. It also uses Grand Marnier Cuvee du Centenaire, which costs $159.99 a bottle at Total Wine & More.
The spirits are mixed with simple syrup and fresh-squeezed lime juice and served with a lime wheel garnish and pineapple leaves.
This is not the first time Fleming’s has offered the pricey drink. Last year, it also had a $100 margarita made with a different tequila.
Although $100 for a drink is rare, expensive margaritas can be found in the Fresno area.
