BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF STANISLAUS COUNTY
NEEDED: Volunteers 18 and older to help in our after-school programs at two local elementary schools. Tasks may include homework assistance or helping during activities or sports. Volunteer hours are 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, as needed. Applicants must fill out an application and attend an orientation. Qualified applicants will be interviewed. A background check, fingerprint clearance and a TB test are also required.

CENTER FOR HUMAN SERVICES
NEEDED: Volunteers 12 and older to help reduce the amount of wasted fruit and help increase access to fresh produce for low-income families. Individuals or groups are needed to form volunteer teams of young people supervised by an adult for harvest events. Usual schedule is Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help glean fruit from backyard tree donors. Adult volunteers are also needed during the week to help pick up empty boxes and distribute harvested fruit to local food banks.
FIRST TEE OF CENTRAL VALLEY
NEEDED: Volunteers 18 and older for outreach programs and to assist at clinics. First Tee impacts lives of area youths by providing programs to ensure character development and the mastery of life skills through instruction in the game of golf. Volunteers are not required to be golfers. Volunteers play a key role in creating positive relationships that inspire young people to become confident, responsible citizens. Ten-week sessions are held spring, summer and fall at Modesto Municipal Golf Course, Monday through Thursday afternoons and on Saturday mornings. A volunteer information session will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Modesto Municipal Golf Course.
HEALTHY AGING ASSOCIATION
NEEDED: Volunteers 18 and older to join the Young at Heart team of instructors who make a difference in the lives of older adults. Volunteer instructors are needed to lead group exercise classes as soon as possible in Hughson and Modesto. No experience is needed, only a passion for wellness and working with older adults. Free training certification is available for the right individuals.
HOPE HAVEN WEST
NEEDED: Volunteers 18 and older on Mondays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon to help in the warehouse, 1324 Coldwell Ave., Modesto, sorting, boxing assembling and packing wheelchairs. Hope Haven West collects discarded and used wheelchairs and ships them to vocational rehab units of 17 federal prisons, where prisoners refurbish the chairs. The refurbished chairs are then returned to the agency.
NEEDED: Volunteers 16 and older to help with the Tuolumne River Clean-Up Project. Duties include hauling tires and shopping carts out of the river and removing trash along the river’s bank.
