BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF STANISLAUS COUNTY
NEEDED: Volunteers 18 and older are needed to help in our after-school programs at two local elementary schools. Tasks may include homework assistance or helping during activities or sports. Volunteer hours are 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, as needed. Applicants must fill out an application and attend an orientation. Qualified applicants will be interviewed. A background check, fingerprint clearance and a TB test are also required.

CENTER FOR HUMAN SERVICES
NEEDED: Volunteers 12 and older to help reduce the amount of wasted fruit and help increase access to fresh produce by low-income families. Individuals or groups are needed to form volunteer teams of young people supervised by an adult for harvest events. Usual schedule is Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help glean fruit from backyard tree donors. Adult volunteers are also needed during the week to help pick up empty boxes and distribute harvested fruit to local food banks.

HOPE HAVEN WEST
NEEDED: Volunteers 18 and older on Mondays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon to help in the warehouse, 1324 Coldwell Ave., Modesto, sorting, boxing assembling and packing wheelchairs. Hope Haven West collects discarded and used wheelchairs and ships them to vocational rehab units of 17 federal prisons where prisoners refurbish the chairs. The refurbished chairs are then returned to the agency.

NEEDED: Volunteers 16 and older to help with the Tuolumne River Clean-Up Project. Duties include hauling tires and shopping carts out of the river and removing trash along the river’s bank. CENTER FOR HUMAN SERVICES HUTTON HOUSE
NEEDED: Adult volunteers to aid runaway and homeless youth, ages 13 to 17 years, at the shelter site; to answer the crisis line; perform intake; lead recreational activities; tutor; co-facilitate groups with their leaders; transport youth to meetings, events and appointments; interact with youth; and more to provide support to young people and their families. Volunteers attend 18 hours of initial program and CPR/first aid training and monthly training meetings, and must pass FBI fingerprint and criminal background review; a physical clearance, a TB test, and a Child Abuse Index clearance, and commit to volunteering four hours per week for a minimum of one year. Training will be held Monday and Tuesday evenings from Feb. 23 to March 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. Scheduled volunteer interviews will take place Tuesday from 8 a.m. to noon.

FIRST TEE OF CENTRAL VALLEY
NEEDED: Volunteers 18 and older for outreach programs and to assist at clinics. First Tee helps area young people by providing programs to aid character development and mastery of life skills through golf instruction. Volunteers are not required to be golfers. Ten-week sessions are held spring, summer and fall at Modesto Municipal Golf Course, Monday through Thursday afternoons and on Saturday mornings. A volunteer information session will be held Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at Modesto Municipal Golf Course.

HEALTHY AGING AND ASSOCIATION
NEEDED: Volunteers 18 and older to join the Young at Heart team of instructors who make a difference in the lives of older adults. Volunteer instructors are needed to lead group exercise classes in Hughson and Modesto. No experience is needed, only a passion for wellness and working with older adults. Free training certification is available.
