An 18-year-old male suffered fatal injuries and a 16-year-old male was injured during a shooting Thursday night in Merced, police reported.
Police received numerous reports of shots fired at 8:32 pm in the area of Childs Avenue and M Street.
Officers responded to the scene and found the victims with gunshot wounds. They were taken to an area hospital by Riggs Ambulance for medical treatment, according to Sgt. Jay Struble.
A short time later, however, the 18-year-old male was pronounced dead. His name has not been released, pending notification of his family members. The 16-year-old is in stable condition, according to Struble.

No arrests have been made and the motive for the shooting was not immediately clear.
The death is the 12th homicide reported this year in Merced, and the 26th in Merced County.
