Scholarship yard sale

The Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1455 E. Yosemite Ave., is holding its annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today to raise money for scholarships. The yard sale has items ranging from toys to furniture as well as new and nearly new women’s clothing, many in plus sizes. Donations are welcome. For more information, call Jan at (209) 631-4221.

Free emissions tests

The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District is giving free emissions testing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the 11th Street parking lot of the Merced County Fairgrounds, 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The first 525 vehicle owners that qualify will receive a $500 voucher for repairs at participating smog shops. Organizers estimate a two-hour wait. ‘Harvest America’ to air

Creekside Evangelical Free Church will host “Harvest America,” a live simulcast from Dallas featuring Phil Wickham, Mercy Me and Greg Laurie at 6 p.m. Sunday. The church is at 2876 G St. in Merced, next to the Bear Creek Galleria.

Christian Bikers rally

The eighth annual Christian Bikers Rally is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Madera Fairgounds, located at Highway 99 and Cleveland Avenue. The event will include food, live bands, arm-wrestling and children’s activities. Firefighters pancake breakfast

The Merced City Firefighters Association IAFF Local 1479 will hold its 25th annual pancake breakfast 7 to 11 a.m. today at Station 55, 3520 N. Parsons Ave. All proceeds go to local sports organizations. Children can meet Sparky, the fire dog, and Hydro, the electronic fire hydrant. Fire engines and trucks will be on display. There will be bounce houses, station tours and a live vehicle extrication demonstration.

Blessing of the Animals

The annual Blessing of the Animals is 1 p.m. today at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1455 E. Yosemite Ave. in Merced. All animals are welcome, but must be leashed or in crates. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call (209) 383-0632.
