Temperatures are expected to remain toasty through the weekend, but that won’t discourage speedboats racers and professional wakeboarders from taking to the water of Lake McSwain for some competition today.
It’s all part of Fall Fest 2014.
Besides the racing, there will be exhibitions and other activities for the family. The festivities and speedboat races begin at 10 a.m. today. Entrance to the McSwain recreation area is $8 per vehicle, according to a news release.
Speedboats, also known as “hot boats,” will reach up to 150 mph on Lake McSwain during races being held throughout the day. There will also be exhibitions from pro wakeboarders from noon to 12:45 p.m. today.
Bounce houses will be on hand for kids, and there will be plenty of food and drink vendors.
During the event, no other boats will be allowed on Lake McSwain. Fishing will be limited to areas east of the A Loop campground and heading upstream. Fishing won’t be allowed between the A Loop campground and the McSwain Dam between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. today.
