Supervisors meeting

The Merced County Board of Supervisors will meet at 10 a.m. today at the county administration building, 2222 M St. Appointing a new county librarian is on the agenda. For more information, visit co.merced.ca.us.

PFLAG barbecue

PFLAG Merced will hold its annual summer barbecue at 6:30 p.m. today at United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Park Way in celebration of nine years at the church. Hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers and drinks will be provided. Attendees with last names starting with the letters A-R should bring a side dish and S-Z, a dessert. The Women’s Spotlight Network is geared to help grow businesses owned by women. Meetings are held from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays at DiCicco’s Italian Restaurant, 3360 N. Highway 59. For more information, call (209) 722-6778.

Certified Farmers Market

The Original Merced County Certified Farmers Market is held 7:30-11 a.m. Wednesdays at the shopping center off Yosemite Avenue and Paulson Road and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays at 18th and N streets. For more information, go to www.mercedcfm.com.

Summer arts classes

Atwater Chamber mixer

The Atwater Chamber of Commerce will hold its Diamond Mixer and Atwater Aviators Game at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Ball Park, 790 Elm Ave. in Atwater. Adults are $3 and children are free. Hot dogs are two for $3. Ballgame begins at 7 p.m.

Scholarships available

The Horatio Alger Cortopassi Family Foundation is offering vocational scholarships for community college students. Students can receive $2,500 per semester up to a maximum of $10,000. Applicants must live in Merced, Stanislaus, Madera or San Joaquin counties; be no older than 25; demonstrate financial need with a financial aid award letter; and be a high school graduate or have a GED. NAMI meetings

Merced County’s branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness holds biweekly support groups for families affected by serious mental illness. For more information call (209) 381-6844 and a volunteer will contact you within 48 hours.
