Two thieves strike Atwater Circle K store

ATWATER — Atwater police are searching for two men who robbed a Circle K convenience store early Tuesday.

The robbery was reported about 3 a.m. at the 1021 Shaffer Road store, according to Detective Adolfo Lomeli. The clerk told officers the robbers entered the store wearing black clothes and handkerchiefs tied around their faces.

At first, the 22-year-old clerk thought it was a joke until one of the robbers pulled a revolver and demanded cash from the register. The clerk took some cash from the register and one of the robbers grabbed the money.

The robbers ran out of the store and fled on foot, in opposite directions.

Lomeli said police are reviewing video surveillance of the robbery as part of their investigation. The robbers are believed to be white men wearing black sweat shirts and jeans. One of the robbers had the Buhach Colony High "Thunder" logo on his sweat shirt.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Detective David Brum at (209) 357-6395 or the department's automated tip line at (209) 357-6390. Calls are kept confidential and callers can remain anonymous.
