Construction of the Wawona Road beginning in May will cause up to 30-minute traffic delays in Yosemite National Park, the National Park Service said.
The project will improve nearly 25 miles of the road, starting from the south entrance of the park and ending at the junction of the Wawona Road and Bridalveil Straight. Construction crews will resurface the roadway, improve drainage and grading, and add new signs and striping to the roadway.
Visitors entering Yosemite via Highway 41 will experience up to 30-minute delays Mondays through Thursdays, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays. Additional hour-long delays will be scheduled from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Fridays through Sundays.
Construction should end by November.
