The Stanislaus County Employees' Retirement Association on Monday will consider alternative proposals from the county and Ceres for meeting their pension-fund obligations next fiscal year. Based on a valuation released in January, the pension system for local public service employees needs an additional $22 million from the county and $1.2 million from Ceres because its investments were hammered from 2008 to mid-2009. Local government budgets have taken a beating from the recession, so the county wants StanCERA to take $12 million from supplemental benefit reserves to help offset its contribution. Ceres is asking for a break as well. The retirement board meets at 2 p.m. Monday in the boardroom at 832 12th St., Suite 600, Modesto.
