The Sun-Star and Merced College will co-sponsor an important community event March 5 at the college — a public forum about the emotional toll of the foreclosure crisis in Merced County.

Everyone’s invited. Eight experts will sit on the panel — elected officials, Realtors, mental health professionals, financial counselors. Executive Editor Mike Tharp will be moderator.

Reporter Danielle Gaines, who helped report and write the Sun-Star’s important series, “Houses of Blues: The Extreme Stress of Merced’s Foreclosure Epidemic,” in January will also be at the forum.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. in the college’s L-III classroom, directly behind the administration building.

Those of you affected — directly and indirectly — by the foreclosure crisis are invited to attend. You are welcome to speak, ask questions, seek answers, offer solutions.

The event will be streamed live on our Web page (www.mercedsunstar.com).

The Sun-Star and Merced College hope to fill the auditorium with people who need help — and with people who can offer it. We are pleased to partner on this crucial project.
