LIVINGSTON -- A convicted sex offender who allegedly failed to register with local law enforcement was arrested by Merced County sheriff's deputies this week in Livingston.
Thomas Eugene Tanner, 57, was arrested just after 1 p.m Tuesday by the sheriff's STAR Team with state parole officers in the 4000 block of Lincoln Avenue, according to Deputy Tom MacKenzie, sheriff's spokesman.
Tanner never reported to his parole agent or registered as a sex offender after his release from jail on Dec. 29, MacKenzie said.
He was convicted as a sex offender in 1979 and has been in and out of prison since, MacKenzie said. He was on parole for failing to register as a sex offender.
