MADDUX YOUTH CENTER — A holiday party will be held Dec. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. Volunteers 16 and up are needed to assist with setup, refreshments, children's activities, and cleanup between 3 and 9 p.m. Monetary donations to purchase gifts and refreshments for the children are appreciated.

THE SALVATION ARMY — Individuals, families and groups are invited to take part in the Christmas Kettle Campaign by staffing a kettle and ringing the bell to solicit donations from holiday shoppers outside local businesses throughout Modesto, Ceres and Turlock. Agency staff will set up, provide training and pick up kettle and donations after shift. Flexible shifts are available through Dec. 24.

THE SALVATION ARMY MODESTO CORPS — Volunteers 16 and older are needed to help distribute Christmas boxes to families on Dec. 19 between 7 a.m. and noon. Monetary donations, nonperishable food items and toys for newborn to 12-year-olds are needed. Volunteers 16 and older are also needed to organize and hang coats by size with the 19th annual Coats For Kids on Dec. 28-29 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and to assist families at the event Dec. 30 between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Donations of new or gently used coats in all sizes are needed and may be dropped off at the Salvation Army facility or any participating dry cleaner, or Heritage Ford.

SALVATION ARMY TURLOCK CORPS AND TURLOCK TOGETHER — Christmas Box Program volunteers, age 16 and older, are needed to enter client data into the computer through Dec. 16 between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Volunteers 13 and older (or under 12 with a parent) are also needed to help prepare the boxes with nonperishable food items and toys weekdays from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. through Dec. 21; and distribute the boxes Dec. 19 and 21 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Volunteers 18 and older may also deliver boxes to senior citizen complexes Dec. 19 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Drivers must have vehicle, California license and insurance. Monetary donations, nonperishable food items, and toys for newborn to 12-year-old children are needed. In addition, volunteers 13 and older (12 and under with a parent) are needed to assist with the annual Christmas dinner. Volunteers may help with setup Dec. 24 between 10 and noon or assist with games and activities, prepare and serve dinner, or clean up on Dec. 25 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monetary donations, nonperishable holiday food items, and toy and games are appreciated.

SOROPTIMIST COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS TREE — Invites the public to purchase a gift for one of the 3,400 needy children, newborn to 17, from the tree located at Vintage Faire Mall through Dec. 19. Volunteers 16 and older are needed to assist shoppers with the selection and tracking paperwork, receive, tag and organize gifts by agency as they are returned. Flexible shifts are available daily between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Additional volunteers are needed to wrap the gifts for delivery to the children. Monetary donations are also appreciated to purchase gifts for children whose tags were not selected.

UNITED SAMARITANS FOUNDATION — Christmas dinner distribution will provide hot holiday meals to the needy on Dec. 24. Volunteers are needed to assist with dinner preparation, distribute meals from the lunch trucks and clean up at the Hughson, Modesto and Turlock sites between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monetary donations and traditional precooked holiday food items are needed to help provide the 2,000 meals this Christmas. Holiday gifts for children and adults are also needed.
