Letter arguments don't hold up

In regards to "Gays are bulldozing our society" (Letters, May 16): First, she says that the only two choices those who uphold what they believe to be morally true about marriage must cast tradition aside or pay the price. This is a false dilemma. There are other alternatives.

Second, saying that "social decay will go on because good people labeled as bigots will suffer loss and lose their First Amendment right to live out their beliefs" is a slippery slope. Concluding that an unsubstantiated series of events will take place subsequent to an initial event (in this case, giving homosexuals the right to marry) is false reasoning. Homosexuals have been granted a number of equal rights thusfar and there has neither been a loss of the First Amendment, nor a loss in the right to live out beliefs for any American citizen.
