There will be fireworks in Turlock this Fourth of July, after all. After California State University, Stanislaus' annual "Fantastic Fourth" celebration fell victim to budget cuts, the Turlock Chamber of Commerce and the Stanislaus County Fair Board stepped in. Chamber Executive Director Sharon Silva told fair directors Monday her phone had been ringing off the hook after the cancellation. Local businesses had committed about $22,000 of an estimated $35,000 needed for the show, contingent upon Silva finding a location. The fair board voted Monday to donate the fairgrounds for the event.
