Ripon runs past Escalon

Their season finale went much like the rest of the Trans-Valley League season for the Ripon High girls soccer team.

The Indians jumped out to a 6-0 halftime lead over the Escalon in route to a 8-0 season finale win versus the Cougars.

Meredith Perkins celebrated senior night with four first half goals. Renae McFadden netted two first half goals and three assists.

McFadden completes the regular season as the second leading scorer in the Stanislaus District.

Senior Kate Isganitis anchored the Ripon defense for their eighth shutout of the season.

Ripon (21-1-1) will host the opening game of the playoffs against the Mother Lode League runner-up on May 12th.


TURLOCK 9, MERCED 3, at Merced -- Vince Wheeland struck out 14 and was backed by timely hitting from his teammates. The Bulldogs (5-5 CCC) scored three runs in the third to take a 3-2 lead.

Sophomore catcher Ryan Brown had three RBI, including on a double in the fifth.

ESCALON 9, RIPON 3, at Escalon -- The Cougars stretched their undefeated streak to 24 games thanks largely to an eight-run third inning.

JIM ELLIOTT 5, BIG VALLEY 4, at Lodi -- Kona Olson was 2 for 3 with five stolen bases as Jim Elliott Christian beat Big Valley Christian. Tucker Richardson took the loss for Big Valley, though he gave up only five hits.

HUGHSON 11, RIVERBANK 0, at Riverbank -- Zack Adams drove in three runs and Rudy Carrillo pitched a two-hit shutout for the Huskies (7-6 TVL).

ORESTIMBA 11, LIVINGSTON 7, at Livingston -- Craig Beevers was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple as Orestimba beat Livingston.

Nick Archambault drove in two runs and Jack Escobar was 2 for 3. Archambault was also the winning pitcher.

For Livingston, Gurpeet Sangha was 3 for 4 and Charles Brown and Luis Castellanos were 2-fo-4.


MARIPOSA 9, TURLOCK CHR. 0, at Mariposa -- The Grizzlies scored eight runs in the third on five base hits and two walks.

Nicole Johnson struck out 11 for Mariposa (8-5 Southern League).

Brooke Barret drove in three runs for the Grizzlies. Stephanie Huber pitched and hat two hits to lead the Eagles.

DENAIR 3, DELHI 2 (11), at Delhi -- Wendy Makin hit a game-winning double in the 11th inning as Denair beat Delhi. Sam Doran was the winner while Vanessa Pulido struck out 11 in a losing effort.
