REPUBLICANS TALK PROPOSITIONS: The Republican Party of Stanislaus County will meet Monday at 6 p.m. at 118 W. Orangeburg Ave., Modesto. The program is a panel discussion of the 12 initiatives on the Nov. 4 ballot. Presenters are: Katherine Avila, second vice president of Modesto Republican Women Federated; Doug Miller, field representative for Assemblyman Tom Berryhill; Bob Wiedman, deputy district director for state Sen. MERCED COUNTY CANDIDATES' NIGHT: The League of Women Voters, the NAACP, the Merced County Chamber of Commerce and the county will host a candidates' night for those running for Merced County Supervisor District 2 and California Assembly District 17. The question-and-answer event will be at 7 p.m. today at the Merced County Board of Supervisors chamber, 2222 M St., Merced.

WHITE MEET AND GREET: Assembly candidate Taylor White will be at the Modesto Farmers Market today to meet voters. He also will be at the Democratic debate party tonight at the Democrats' headquarters, 1009 McHenry Ave., and at the concert for Sen. Barack Obama on Friday (see below). FALL FESTIVAL FOR CANDIDATE: Rob and Kristin Santos will host a free fall festival for Turlock City Council candidate David Fransen. The festival will be Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Einstein Acres on Commons Road. Donations will be accepted, and Fransen will be discussing his campaign. OBAMA CONCERT: The Central Valley Democratic Club will host a fund-raising party and concert for presidential candidate Sen. BERRYHILL IN STOCKTON: Republican Bill Berryhill, candidate for Assembly District 26, is holding a fund-raiser in Stockton on Oct. 9. The event will take place at the home of Gia and Mike Duffy from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Donation is $150 per person. On Oct. 23, an "agriculture and education" reception for Berryhill will take place in Modesto at the home of Alexandra and John Duarte.
