Linda Cline's lush, pesticide-free garden was the Modesto Garden Club's Garden of the Month for August. Cline gardens her 1-acre lot from her motorized wheelchair, hand waters most of the landscape and mulches with leaves. Cline has lived at the home for 20 years. Previous occupants were Frederick 'Pop' Knorr, founder of the Modesto Garden Club, and Gordon and Dorothy Hooper, longtime Garden Club members and owners of Nature's Own Floral Shop. The garden features many mature trees, such as olive, avocado, citrus, Japanese maple, Catalpa and liquid amber. It also features pink and white fibrous begonias and alyssum. It has a woodland theme and features many garden rooms using ferns, azaleas, hydrangeas, mature camellias, ivy and gerbera daisies. Small Rose of Sharon trees are featured in front.
