Modesto's first new motel in 14 years will open next week. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites at 4300 Bangs Ave. will welcome its first guests Tuesday.
The $12 million complex has 95 rooms, including 35 suites, on three floors. The 54,000-square-foot motel was built by Modesto's Huff Construction Co.
It includes a lounge where hot breakfast buffets will be served daily, a business center, workout facility, a 100-person meeting room, swimming pool and a small convenience store.
Each room has a microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, safe, desk and high-definition TV that can link to computers, camcorders, digital cameras, game systems and iPods. Rates are $129 to $149 per night. About 42 people have been hired to work there.

The group's other motels are in Lathrop, Westley and Stockton, giving it 365 rooms in the region.
With the opening of the motel on Bangs Avenue, Modesto will have about 21 motels with 1,789 rooms.
Another Modesto motel, SpringHill Suites at 1901 W. Orangeburg Ave., is expected to open in May with 111 rooms.
