Detectives suspect 16-year-old of molesting 2 girls at day care

Stanislaus County sheriff's detectives Friday arrested a 16-year-old Salida boy on suspicion of molesting two girls at his family's day-care center.

The teenage boy was taken into custody at his home and questioned at department headquarters, where he was arrested, said deputy Royjindar Singh.

The boy was booked at the Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on 30 counts of suspicion of committing lewd or lascivious acts with a child, Singh said. The boy's name was not released, because he is a minor.

The suspected molestations occurred at Little Giggles Daycare on Old Mill Lane just west of Sisk Road in Salida, according to the sheriff's detectives.

Authorities were called Feb. 17 after a 4-year-old girl told her parents she didn't want to go back to the day-care center because of what the teenage boy was doing to her, Singh said.

During the investigation, detectives found the second victim, a 7-year-old girl, authorities said.

Detectives suspect the 16-year-old had been committing lewd acts for more than six months and they are interviewing other children who attended the center.

The Sheriff's Department asks parents who have sent their children to Little Giggles Daycare to call Detective Randall Watkins at 525-7085.
