Riverbank Cheese & Wine Expo

The always popular Riverbank Cheese & Wine Exposition returns to tantalize the taste buds and test your palate. The 39th annual event is adding craft beers to the tasting tent for the first time. Eight local wineries and five craft breweries will pour during the tasting sessions. In addition, the street fair will include more than 100 vendors selling arts and crafts, food and other merchandise. The family-friendly event also features a full carnival with rides, kids area, games and live music.

David Garibaldi

Performance painter and “America’s Got Talent” semi-finalist David Garibaldi brings his high-energy show to town to benefit the Modesto Gospel Mission. The Sacramento-area artist gained worldwide attention in 2012 from the NBC reality competition. Garibaldi creates images live on stage using a variety of techniques set to music. The show will raise funds for the new Women and Children’s Building at Modesto Gospel Mission. A pre-show reception will include appetizers from chefs of Modesto, a silent auction, live music and red carpet photo opportunities.

Sunday Afternoons at CBS

The 23rd season of the Sunday Afternoons at CBS series continues with the group Cradle Duende. The San Francisco-based group fuses klezmer and Balkan melodies with Latin rhythms and wraps it all together with self-described “eco-conscious hip-hop lyrics.” Group members Justin Ancheta and Morgan Nilsen played a CBS concert in 2013. They return with their full six-piece band. Each concert includes a complimentary afternoon tea.

Richard Glazier

Pianist and Gershwin expert Richard Glazier returns to the area with a show featuring music from Broadway and Hollywood. The program will include songs from “Roberta,” “Auntie Mame,” “Kiss Me Kate” and “My Fair Lady,” among others. Between numbers, Glazier will talk about how the music fits into musical movies. His show includes backstage stories and interview footage with movie composers.

Wild Planet Day

Come for the fun, stay for the science. The Great Valley Museum and the Modesto Junior College Science, Math and Engineering Division are hosting a family-oriented science festival at the new Science Community Center on the MJC West Campus. Wild Planet Day will feature interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities. See live animals on display and enjoy a planetarium star show. A variety of food and vendor booths will also be on site. The event will raise funds for the nonprofit Great Valley Museum.

“SPANK!”

Get ready for 50 shades of funny. A touring show of the adult-themed spoof of the popular erotic novel trilogy is coming to the Gallo Center for the Arts. “SPANK! The Fifty Shades Parody” musical sends up the E.L. James novels with song, dance and laughs. BroadwayWorld.com called the show as “raucously hilarious … a perfect girls night out.”
