Diverse dance styles featured in MJC program
A range of dance styles will be highlighted in the Modesto Junior College Student Choreographer's Showcase program April 1-5.
Ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop and ethnic dance will be featured in the show at the Cabaret West Dance Studio.
Seating is limited and tickets will be sold at the studio box office 1½ hours before the start of each performance. Ticket prices are $8 for students, $10 for adults.

'Lapin Agile' to come alive on CSUS stage
A play written by comedian and actor Steve Martin, "Picasso at the Lapin Agile," will be presented April 3-12 by the California State University, Stanislaus, drama department.
The play centers on a fictional meeting between Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a bar, the Lapin Agile, in 1904 Paris. It will be directed by Jere O'Donnell.

A night of Shakespeare
The Modesto Junior College Shakespeare Academy presents its 12th "Shakespeare Night" on April 3 at the east campus forum building.
Students and faculty present some of The Bard's sonnets and scenes from selected plays. The evening includes songs, scholarly analyses and spoofs. The Complexions dance troupe brings its multicultural program to the Gallo Center on April 4.
Formed in 1994 by Dwight Rhoden & Desmond Richardson, two principal dancers of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the company received the New York Times Critics Choice award in 1995 and has received international critical acclaim.
The Modesto show is at 8 p.m. April 4 in the Gallo Center's Foster Family Theatre,

Grab a tee for Stage 3
Stage 3 Theatre presents its Black Tee — no, not Tea — fund-raiser April 5 at its downtown Sonora theater.
Called the Black Tee because the evening is about informal elegance, the event features food, wine, music by the acoustic gypsy jazz quartet Swing Gitane, the comedy/song of Ron DeLacy and a performance by improvisation and sound effects master John Bell.
Champagne, dessert and dancing to the music of Coope de Lill follow the show. Tickets are $50 and limited to 100. The event begins at 6 p.m. at Stage 3 Theatre, 208 S. Green St., Sonora. Call 536-1778 for see www.stage3.org.
Patsy Cline program
Modesto native Joni Morris brings her popular "Portrait of Patsy Cline" show to the Gallo Center for the Arts on April 6.
Morris and her After Midnight Band recreate the songs and performances of the country western legend, offering such selections from the 1950s and '60s as "Crazy," "Sweet Dreams" and "I Fall to Pieces."
