Did you see Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in ‘Game of Thrones’?
Of course, he played an archer.
With an arm like Aaron Rodgers’, who better to suit up Sunday as a Lannister archer on HBO’s Game of Thrones than the Green Bay Packers quarterback and superfan, who landed his dream role on the smash series. The Chico native sneaked in under the wire, appearing in the penultimate episode of the show’s eighth and final season.
Any quarterback will tell you the hard work to earn the start begins in the film room. Last year, Rodgers – ahem, that’s Lord Aaron of House Rodgers of Greenwater Bay, the True King of the North, to you – took the Iron Throne for a promotional video.
As reported on the entertainment website Vulture, Rodgers, who exchanged his Lambeau green-and-gold for Lannister old gold, gave his thanks on Instagram for the cameo complete with four – four! – fire emojis.
“It was just for a few seconds, but I’ll always be thankful to have been on the penultimate episode of @gameofthrones #crazyepisodetonight”

But ... Rodgers was right.
On Sunday, Our Hero didn’t last long. As Daenerys Targaryen’s last dragon, Drogon, rained hellfire on a panicked populace, Rodgers scrambled for his life like he was being chased by Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack.
And in a scene that Bears fans are already replaying on a loop, Rodgers’ brief moment in King’s Landing ended the only way it could – sacked in an incinerating ball of flame.
