7 kids, 1 man hospitalized in SoCal bus crash

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- Seven children and an elderly man have been hospitalized with minor injuries after a school bus and the man's vehicle collided in Palm Springs.

Fire Battalion Chief Sang Pao Wang says the bus driver was taking 28 children to Katherine Finchy Elementary School when the accident occurred Monday morning.

The car's sole occupant and several children from the bus were transported by ambulance to Desert Regional Medical Center.

Wang says the rest of the children were taken by another school bus to the school.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
