Beyer High graduate Matt Bettencourt birdied the dangerous par-3 16th Friday and finished with a 1-under-par 71, good for a weekend berth at the 11th Legends Reno-Tahoe Open.
Bettencourt sits at 1-under-par 143 and tied for 50th after surviving the cut by two strokes.
He's ranked 92nd with $696,702 on the PGA Tour money list going into the final two rounds at the scenic Montreux Country Club, which transitions from the Sierra forest to the Nevada desert, south of Reno.
