Escalon's Eric Holmes has a major points battle on his hands. Jason Bowles won Saturday's Camping World Series West race at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale to take control of the series points lead for the first time this season.

Bowles entered the King Taco 200 trailing defending champion Holmes by 16 points, but took over the standings lead by winning the pole and claiming his second consecutive victory. Holmes finished sixth and now trails by 24 points.

It was Bowles' third victory in a row at Toyota Speedway. Holmes trails Bowles 1,364-1,340 with five races left on the schedule. Oakdale's Wes Banks was 14th in the race.

Missing from the 21-car field was 2007 champion Mike David of Modesto, whose Bennett Lane Winery team is taking a break. David entered the night fourth in the standings, 130 points behind.

David could not be reached for comment, but series media relations director Kevin Green said team owner Randy Lynch indicated he would return to the series after a hiatus.

STOCKTON 99 -- Manteca's Jake Gomes won the second Tri-Holiday race of the season Saturday at Stockton 99 Speedway. Gomes finished ahead of a 21-car field in the 150-lap Western Late Model main. Manteca's Guy Guibor, the last track champion, was second, followed by Dave Philpott, Greg Potts and Jeff Belletto. Points leader Justin Philpott finished seventh in front of a crowd of about 3,600.

MADERA -- M.K. Kanke won Saturday's 150-lap SRL Southwest Series race at Madera Speedway. It was Kanke's third victory in four starts.
