SAN JOSE -- Joey Williamson didn't provide the performance you would expect from a pitcher with a perfect record, but it was enough.
He gave up three runs Saturday, but four innings of two-hit ball by the bullpen secured the Modesto Nuts' 5-4 California League victory over the San Jose Giants.
Williamson (9-0) left with a 5-3 lead, thanks in part to Jason Van Kooten's three-run home run in the first.
The Nuts' Matt Repec was safe on a fielder's choice to drive in the game's first run, and Charles Blackmon's two-out single in the fourth scored Brian Rike from second for a 5-1 Modesto lead.
