Why is it that the city of Modesto keeps raising the rates for golf, when every other course is lowering rates to draw people in?
I play in a league and pay $29 to $34 for nine holes with a cart, depending on who is taking the money. I can play 18 holes for less than that at other courses.
The city should lower rates to encourage people to play golf, or sell the courses to someone who understands the economy.
All the city and Sue Fiscoe (Modesto director of golf) are doing is driving people away and digging into the general fund every year to keeep these courses alive. Come on city council, get involved. Either drop your rates to keep people here, or sell the courses and use the money for the good of the people.
