Orestimba remains unbeaten

The Orestimba High boys basketball team is still undefeated, although not without a stiff challenge from Big Valley Christian and Tucker Richardson.

The Warriors got 23 points from Craig Beevers and 21 from Tyler Brasil in a 67-63 nonleague victory over Big Valley Christian on Tuesday night at Big Valley Christian High.

Orestimba (7-0) trailed 53-50 heading into the fourth quarter, where it outscored the Lions 17-10 for the victory.

Richardson led Big Valley Christian with 20 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, eight steals and four blocks. It was his seventh double-double of the season. Teammate Corey Wells had 13.

HUGHSON 51, HILMAR 41, at Hughson -- Michael Whiteside scored 17 points and Zach Adams finished with 11 as the Huskies (3-2) toppled the Yellowjackets. Hughson jumped out to a 16-3 lead after the first quarter and cruised from there. Quinton McCown scored 14 points to lead Hilmar.

BRET HARTE 67, RIVERBANK 57, at Angels Camp -- Will Finn scored 16 of his game-high 33 points in the fourth quarter as the Bullfrogs (5-3) held off the Bruins (5-3). Zack Gonzales led Riverbank with 20 points.

CALAVERAS 58, DELHI 18, at Delhi -- Steven Klith (12 points) and Garrett Cline (10 points) led a balanced attack as the Redskins (7-2) beat the Hawks. Calaveras had six players score at least six points.

DOWNEY 61, ATWATER 53, at Downey -- Yuji Williams and Chris Kline scored 13 points apiece and Pedro Guzman had 12 for the Knights (4-5), who held the Falcons to two first-quarter points. Colton Beatty scored a game-high 17 points and Eric Bolt 15, including four 3-pointers, for Atwater

McNAIR 76, DAVIS 60, at Davis -- Ken Fox scored 27 points, including four monster dunks, as the Eagles beat the Spartans. Davis got to within 44-40 in the third quarter, but had several turnovers after that to give McNair the momentum. Brian Jones led the Spartans with 13 points.

PATTERSON 69, EAST UNION 44, at Manteca -- Kent Foster scored a game-high 20 points and Felix Mapanda finished with 19 to lead the Tigers (5-1) to a nonleague victory over the winless Lancers (0-7), who were led by T.J. Brown's 16 points.

MANTECA 72, BEAR CREEK 61, at Manteca -- Kiwi Gardner scored 16 of his team-high 23 points in the fourth quarter -- including all three of his 3-pointers -- to help the Buffaloes (7-1) defeat the Bruins (2-5). Joining Gardner in double figures for Manteca were Ernie Pimentel (15 points), Gerry Cooper (12) and Nick Scheible (11).
