Nuts Notes

last updated: August 27, 2007 03:59:24 AM

NEXT GAME: Tuesday, Bakersfield at Modesto, 7:05 p.m.

PROJECTED STARTERS: Righty Chaz Roe (7-11, 4.46) will start for Modesto against a Blaze starter yet to be named.

COMING UP -- Tuesday opens the final home series of the regular season. The Blaze, which will finish the season with the worst overall record in the California League's North Division, will be at John Thurman Field through Thursday.

TURNSTILE TRACKING -- Saturday's crowd of 4,011, the eighth sellout of the season for Modesto, pushed the team's season attendance to 151,116. It's only the second time in 61 seasons of minor league baseball in Modesto that the team has drawn in excess of 150,000 fans. Sunday's gathering of 1,242 pushed the season total to 152,358 and brought the franchise within 2,814 of breaking the all-time mark of 155,171, set in 2002 with three home games remaining.

The Nuts drew 144,637 in 66 dates in 2006. This is the first year the Nuts will play their full complement of 70 home dates since the stadium was renovated for the 1997 season.

To celebrate the attendance record, the Nuts will be honoring the 155,172nd fan through the turnstile with a gift package that will include a Modesto Nuts game-worn jersey, tickets to every 2007 playoff game, the chance to throw out the first pitch on the record-breaking night and two 2008 Nuts season tickets.

The record could fall as early as Tuesday, when the Nuts host their second annual Faith Night. Last season's Faith Night, which featured a pregame parking lot concert by Audio Adrenaline, drew a crowd of 4.051.

This year's Faith Night concert will be headlined by Hawk Nelson and also will feature The Send. Tickets for the concert also include a ticket to Tuesday night's game and start at $14. The price of the ticket is based on the level of seating to Tuesday night's game.

Stadium gates open at 5 p.m. and the concert start at 5:30. The east parking lot will be closed to traffic Tuesday, since the stage will be set up in that area. Only the west lot will be available for parking. For tickets to Faith Night, the final homestand and for the playoffs, call the Nuts ticket office at 572-4487.
