In Brief: Kings lose warm-up to Gasol, Lakers

LAS VEGAS -- Pau Gasol had 12 points and six rebounds to help the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Sacramento Kings 94-89 in exhibition play Sunday.

Kobe Bryant scored nine points in 25 minutes on 4-of-12 shooting for the Lakers, Andrew Bynum had nine points, five rebounds and three blocks, and Vladimir Radmanovic also finished with nine points and seven rebounds.

Jason Thompson led the Kings (1-2) with 15 points and had eight rebounds. John Salmons scored 11 points and Brad Miller 10.

Los Angeles built its largest lead at 84-72 with 5:25 left. The Kings cut it to 92-89 with 36 seconds to go.

Soccer

The United States added four MLS players -- midfielder Pablo Mastroeni of Colorado, Columbus forward Robbie Rogers, Toronto defender Marvell Wynne and Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornsteinwill -- to its roster for Wednesday's match at Trinidad and Tobago. Modesto native Heath Pearce, a defender, is on the roster.

Horse Racing

Enough Talk is the fastest trotter in the world. With a time of 1 minute, 49.3 seconds, Enough Talk became the first trotter in harness racing history to crack 1:50 en route to victory in the $100,000 Patriot Invitational on Saturday night at Colonial Downs in New Kent, Va. Donato Hanover and Giant Diablo trotted miles in 1:50.1 to share the previous fastest mark. ... Casino Drive won the eighth race at Santa Anita in Arcadia. The 3-year-old Japanese colt hadn't raced since winning the Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont Park on May 10 due to a bruised foot.

Tennis

Top-ranked Jelena Jankovic won her third title in three weeks, beating Russia's Vera Zvonareva 6-2, 6-4 in the Kremlin Cup final in Moscow. Igor Kunitsyn won the men's tournament, upsetting fellow Russian Marat Safin for his first ATP Tour title. Kunitsyn survived Safin's 21 aces to win 7-6 (6), 6-7 (4), 6-3. ... Top-seeded David Nalbandian capped a near-perfect week with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 win over local favorite Robin Soderling in the Stockholm Open final. The Argentine lost one set in five matches. ... Philipp Petzschner upset Gael Monfils 6-4, 6-4 in the BA Tennis Trophy final in Vienna, Austria, for his first ATP Tour title. The 125th-ranked German had never been beyond the quarterfinals of an ATP event.
