NAPA The Oakland Raiders packed up to leave their summer home after three weeks and will be back at their regular facility near Oakland once they return from Friday night's exhibition game in Tennessee.
"I don't know if we're very good but I think we'll find a lot out in the first half this week," coach Lane Kiffin said. "This is a big physical team that can rush the passer, can stop the run and can run the heck out of the ball. It's the perfect team for us to be playing."
The Raiders ran for 248 yards and played turnover-free football in beating San Francisco 18-6 Friday. JaMarcus Russell, who threw just five passes in two drives, is expected to play the entire first half Friday and throw much more often.
"He's doing things right in practice," Kiffin said. "The next two games will be a big test for him to see where he's at."
QUICK HITTERS Brett Favre dropped back, looked downfield and launched a long spiral about 5 yards past his intended receiver. A few plays later, the Jets quarterback short-hopped a toss that thumped into the grass. "I felt 38 today," Favre said Wednesday after the morning practice. "I'm not going to lie to you. My arm's kind of dragging a little bit today." ... Lorenzo Neal made a solid first impression during his initial practice with Baltimore. The Pro Bowl fullback bulled up the middle to open holes for an assortment of running backs. The 5-foot-11, 255-pound former Fresno State star was cut by San Diego in February. "The thing about him is that the players all know him," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "They all respect him. All of our linebackers have been hit by him."
