EVELETH, Minn. -- Brett Hull and longtime New York Rangers Brian Leetch and Mike Richter are members of the 2008 class of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame. The four-member group announced Tuesday also includes Cammi Granato, the all-time scoring leader for the U.S. women's team with 343 points in 205 games.
Hull was one of the leading goal scorers in NHL history with 741 in a 20-year career that included Stanley Cup titles in Dallas and Detroit. Leetch was an 11-time All-Star in 18 NHL seasons, all but one with the Rangers. He won two Norris Trophies as the league's best defenseman and was a Stanley Cup playoff MVP. Richter was a three-time All-Star in a 14-year career as goalie with the Rangers.
Track and Field
The 1,600-meter relay world record set by the United States in 1998 was scrapped by the IAAF Tuesday because of Antonio Pettigrew's admission of doping. Michael Johnson, Tyree Washington and Jerome Young also were on the team that set the record of 2 minutes, 54.20 seconds in Uniondale, N.Y., on July 22, 1998.
College Wrestling
Two University of Nebraska wrestlers have been dismissed from the team after posing naked for videos and photographs on an Internet pornography site. Paul Donahoe and Kenny Jordan were let go three days after a blog posted images of them taken from Fratmentv.com, a Web site featuring naked or partially clothed male athletes. Donahoe was the national champion 125-pounder in 2007 and took third in 2008.
Boxing
Suspended middleweight Joey Gilbert (16-1, 12 KOs) agreed to pay a $10,000 fine for a positive steroid test as part of a settlement with the Nevada Athletic Commission that will allow him to return to the ring as soon as Sept. 22. Gilbert, 31, gained international attention on the NBC reality series "The Contender" in 2005.
Basketball
The New Orleans Hornets will play seven preseason games prior to their season opener at Golden State in late October, including two games in Europe as part of NBA Europe Live. The Hornets take on the Washington Wizards on Oct. 14 at the O2 World in Berlin, Germany, and close out NBA Europe Live on Oct. 17 in Barcelona. ... Detroit of the WNBA got six-time All-Star Taj McWilliams-Franklin from Washington for Tasha Humphrey, Shay Murphy and a 2009 second-round pick.
Golf
Luke Donald had surgery on his left wrist and will miss the rest of the season, officially ending any hopes of playing on the Ryder Cup team for Europe. The 30-year-old from England played on the last two Ryder Cup teams and is 5-1-1.

Luciano Emilio scored in the fourth and 81st minutes to lead D.C. United over defending champ New England Revolution 3-1 in the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup night in Washington. United will host the Sept. 3 final against the Charleston Battery of the second-tier United Soccer Leagues First Division.
Tennis
Top-seeded Andy Roddick defeated Ramon Delgado 6-3, 7-6 (4) to end a string of upsets at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington. No. 5 seed Mardy Fish, No. 3 Feliciano Lopez and No. 6 Marat Safin bowed out before Roddick advanced to the second round. ... Amelie Mauresmo beat Stephanie Cohen-Alero 6-7 (5), 7-6 (6), 6-1 in the first round of the Cincinnati Women's Open. Mauresmo overcame inconsistency against No. 116 Cohen-Alero in an all-French match. It was her first match since Wimbledon, where she lost to Serena Williams while dealing with an injured thigh. Abdominal pain knocked top seed Marion Bartoli out of her match against Jamea Jackson.
