Racy racing night set for Madera Speedway

Hot August nights begin at Madera Speedway on Saturday with "Boots & Bikini Night" and Round 4 of the HotWood 750 Series with twin 75-lap Western Late Model features. The racing card includes the American Limited Stock Cars, Toyota Sedans, Hornets and Modified Super Toyotas.

Series points leader Kyle Gottula of Modesto is looking for his second consecutive victory. Manteca native Ross Strmiska trails Gottula by 25 points (168-143).

CYCLES IN LODI -- Souza. Corsetti. Anselmi. The top names in dirt track riding will be at the Monster Energy Lodi Cycle Bowl on Saturday for Round 3 of the West Coast Flat Track Series.

MEDLEN FUNDS -- More than $7,500 in donations was collected at the Second Annual Eric Medlen Ice Cream Social at Infineon Raceway on Sunday after the FRAM Autolite Nationals.

Fans contributed $3,824 to the Eric Medlen Scholarship Fund, which was matched by the raceway for a total of $7,648.

This year's scholarship is being awarded to Petaluma's Kevin Neft, winner of Infineon Raceway's high school bracket drag division, in Medlen's name.
