Substitute Mario Bolatti scored in the 83rd minute, sending Argentina to a 1-0 win over Uruguay on Wednesday night in South American qualifying and into the 2010 World Cup.

Argentina was in danger of being eliminated from the World Cup with a loss but Diego Maradona's side picked up the late winner at the Estadio Centenario.

Argentina used the road win to finish fourth in South America qualifying, the final automatic berth from the region.

Uruguay still remained in contention for a World Cup spot but faces a two-game playoff against Costa Rica, the fourth-place finisher from CONCACAF.

Brazil, Chile and Paraguay claimed the other automatic qualifying berths from South America for next year's tournament in South Africa.
