Four major hunting seasons are coming up in California, according to the California Department of Fish and Game.
Deer season for two areas of the state will open Saturday, Sept. 25. The department said about 100,000 hunters will take to the wilds during deer season.
Waterfowl season will open in October, and more than 60,000 hunters are expected to hunt for ducks and geese in marshes, wetlands and other waterfowl habitats throughout the state.
Pheasant season opens Nov. 13, with about 60,000 hunters expected. Fall turkey season also opens Nov. 13.
Many of the state-owned or -operated waterfowl hunting areas are accessible to hunters through a reservation system. Last year more than one million applications were submitted for the three-month waterfowl season.
