LAKE ELSINORE -- The Modesto Nuts took any drama out of their California League baseball game with Lake Elsinore early.
Charles Blackmon led off with a double, then after a fly out, Jeffrey Cunningham also doubled. When Scott Beerer followed with a single Modesto had taken a 2-0 lead they would never yield on their way to a 9-4 win.
The scoring continued in the second inning when Jason Van Kooten led off with a double then came home on Jay Cox Jr.'s 12th home run of the season. In the fourth, Cunningham also homered.
Cory Riordan won his 12th.
