The Kaepernick craze has reached a fever pitch this week, as the Pitman High grad prepares to lead the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game this weekend.
Colin Kaepernick is on the front of this week’s Sports Illustrated. His No. 7 jersey is flying off the shelves. People around the country are taking photos of themselves, their children, even their dogs, “Kaepernicking” — the quarterback’s signature bicep-kissing move.
And two hometown eateries are selling hot dogs and cupcakes, respectively, in honor of the city’s favorite son.
It seems people can’t get enough of the Kaepernicks, and not just Colin. His parents, Rick and Teresa, have been inundated with media requests and even his tortoise, Sammy, has a Twitter feed.
Bee columnist Ron Agostini will offer his own take on Kaepernick mania in Sunday’s Bee and modbee.com.
